10 months agoDavid Lloyd Shrewsbury (formerly The Shrewsbury Club) I used to love this place when it was The Shrewsbury Club—it had such a welcoming vibe and great facilities. However, since it transitioned to David Lloyd, there have been some disappointing changes, particularly regarding the tennis policies. The fact that you can’t bring a tennis ball machine anymore is frustrating, especially since I recently used one at another David Lloyd club. There seems to be inconsistency in their rules, and I hope they address this with head office soon. That said, credit where it’s due—the spa facilities are fantastic. It’s a great place to relax, though the sauna could definitely be bigger. I really hope they invest further into making this club a true spa retreat, perhaps with outdoor spa features, which would take it to the next level. The café is another highlight. The coffee is high-quality, and the food options are varied and enjoyable. Overall, there’s still a lot to like about the club, but some improvements and clearer communication around rules would make it even better.

2 weeks agoI’m extremely disappointed with my experience at David Lloyd. When I joined, I was never shown the contract I supposedly signed, nor was I told that I would be locked into paying for an entire year even if I wanted to cancel. It feels like they deliberately hide this information there’s absolutely no flexibility and no fair way to cancel your membership. The reception staff are unhelpful and seem unable to resolve even basic issues. Every time I’ve asked to speak to someone from management, I’ve been told no one is available. The overall communication from the club is very poor it’s almost impossible to get a clear answer about anything. On top of that, the parking situation is terrible, always overcrowded and even dangerous at times. If you want to book a class, you have to do it at least a week in advance just to get a spot. Overall, the experience has been frustrating and disappointing. I would strongly advise anyone thinking about joining to read the fine print very carefully and be prepared for poor communication and limited support once you’ve signed up.
