Lakeside Paddlesports Club

Fab open day on Sunday..friendly, safe, organised. Great opportunity to try out a range of craft too: open canoes, kayaks , paddleboard & only £10. All safety equipment provided too, so glad I popped down.

We went today as beginners and the people running it couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. We had a really great time and would certainly go back again, great value for money too!

Oh dear, absolute shambles of a club, I booked a taster session for my friend and I that according to their website was from 2pm to 4pm. On making the booking it stated I would receive a confirmation email. I never did, so at 1 o’clock as I was driving past there I called in to confirm they knew we were coming along. I was told yes we know, so I said great I’ll see you at 2. We arrived at 2 to be told “ oh I thought you were waiting here for your friend, your session was at 1pm, is an hour going to be okay?” We made the decision to continue with the season and paid our £12 (for two) just before getting in the same lady told me to stay within the buoys until we reached the group we could see coming back, and then we could go out on the lake. However we reached the end of the buoyes only to be told by a guy with the group that we had to turn round and stay in the buoyed section!! Seriously my I could paddle that stretch in a few minutes!! Needless to say we got back to the jetty and got out! We are not rookies, we have toured lots of rivers and lakes, I have seen some of the positive reviews, but I can’t say I found them friendly at all, in fact the guy telling me to turn round was quite arrogant and actually told me I arrived at 12pm and not 1pm cos he saw me, what he actually saw is me driving past (with my kayaks on) I called in on my way home. Definitely not the club for me, I’ll get my additional safety training elsewher.
