4 years agoA really nice tennis club in the middle of a meadow in Pangbourne. All 3 courts have been relaid and play really well - the new tarmacadam promotes a good standard of modern tennis and the large space behind the baselines also does this. Other clubs which use astroturf courts etc means that old fashioned tennis is promoted which puts sporty youngsters off. Pangbourne dors not do this which is great and also it has a nice friendly atmosphere. Its location next to meadows with football pitches and playgrounds makes the atmosphere much better than if it were in its own isolated tennis enclave. The river is a couple of minutes walk away and we jumped in there after tennis. It was beautiful and like something out of a medieval novel.

a year agoThis review is for the facilities regarding the football pitch in pangbourne and not the tennis club . Where to start on this vastly underfunded area of sport . The car park is small and with only a single lane entrance road to access and leave the match it leads to head on traffic jams as games finishing earlier leave and later matches arrive . This issue could be easily alleviated with an exit road through the dolphin leisure car park . The pitch sits within spitting distance of the river thames so you can imagine how high the water table is in the winter . This very often leads to a water logged pitch . My son plays for pangbourne and on several occasions the games are called off due to this issue . There seems to be no funding for the football facilities and it's woeful .
